8-PART SERIES SPIRITUAL BRIEFING:
ARMING MEN ON THEIR GOD-GIVEN AUTHORITY

PRESENTER: DR. ALEX GILTNER

MONTHLY BEGINNING JANUARY 2025
6:00 - 8:00 pm
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL - KUZMICH LIFE CENTER

This new AOG spiritual briefing format will be an 8-part monthly series arming men on understanding their God-given authority including topics such as Creation, The Fall, Christ, Domestic Church, Grace, & Accountability. See monthly schedule below.

January 16, 2025: What Is Authority?
What does it mean to have authority? Where does authority come from? And if men have authority, how ought it to be used? Ultimately – what is authority for?

February 19, 2025: Authoring Creation – Divine Purpose and Authority in the Created Order
What does Scripture tell us about the Creator, and how does the way Creation is designed help us to see the nature of authority, and how to act well with authority?

March 12, 2025: Stewarding Creation – Priest, Prophet, King, and Family
God designed the fundamental society of Creation to be the family, which reflects the Trinity, and defines the role of the man in Creation and the society. It also foretells the coming of Christ as the true Man.

April 10, 2025: The Fall – Every Man’s Failure
The Fall shapes how the use of authority in Creation has been twisted and tainted, particularly in spiritual warfare with the Enemy. How exactly should we understand this twisting of authority revealed in Scripture, and how does the Fall touch our lives now?

May 8, 2025: Christ the King – the Man of Redemption for Every Man
Christ came to reclaim humanity, and in so doing, gives us the power and model – the authority – to live out that truly redeemed humanity now. How does Christ tell us what it means to be a true man?

September 2025: The Domestic Church – Hierarchy, Purpose, and Responsibility
With the family restored through Christ in the second-divinely established society, the Church, how does a man act as priest, prophet, and king in the home, raising up the next generation of Christ’s disciples?

October 2025: Grace – Every Man’s Need
Men cannot be true leaders utilizing authority properly without help – help from God, from community, and in particular, from the sacraments. This lecture explores how the sacramental life empowers men to live out their authority well.

November 2025: Accountability – Every Man’s Destiny
No authority truly comes without accountability. We must all give an account of how we lived out our purpose and destiny and how we steward what has been entrusted to us. As Christians, this is not our true home, and we live not just for the life, but for the next. How does this help us understand and better actualize the authority we have been given in the design of Creation, as redeemed by Christ.

RETREATS

Armor of God Retreats are designed to allow men time to get away from their normal stressors and distractions and to get into the silence and spend time in God’s word, listening to God’s plan for them and being fed spiritually with tools, practices and topics designed to arm them to be the spiritual leaders that they are designed to be.

We'd love to hear from you on what you like about AOG monthly Spiritual Briefings, what you dislike, or what suggestions you have:

What is a Mortification Rosary that is DONE AT SOME Spiritual BriefingS?

A mortification rosary is similar to the idea of a daily mortification, where a person offers up something for ones spiritual growth. Example, fasting from the radio or music in the car one day, or not hitting the snooze button the next morning. Little ways to say yes or no to what would otherwise be comfortable.

A mortification rosary is where a man offers something, in this case a little discomfort, either by kneeling throughout the rosary or having your arms extended, and that discomfort, that extra yes to God can be offered for spiritual growth.

You can also think of it as offering different intentions for the rosary for the grace and benefit of others.
